Robert E. Cowherd
Robert was born in Monett, Missouri on August 13, 1951, and grew up on a farm about 10 miles north of Cassville, Missouri. He graduated from Cassville High School. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for both undergraduate (B.A History 1973) and Law School (J.D.1975). He was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, member of the Missouri Law Review, and Member of the Order of the Coif.
He joined the law firm of Chapman and Chapman, P.C. in 1975. He has practiced with the firm since that time. His practice is focused on business law, agricultural law, probate and estate planning, bankruptcy, and municipal law. He represents a number of financial institutions including FCS Financial, Chillicothe State Bank, Home Exchange Bank, Great Western Bank, and Investors Community Bank. He also provides representation to numerous communities in north central Missouri on all areas of municipal law including municipal finance. He is a member of The Missouri Bar and has served as a member of The Missouri Bar Board of Governors.
He has set up several charitable foundations and works actively with many not for profit entities. He has been an active leader in the founding, development, and expansion of the Grand River Area Family YMCA.
He is married to Lou Cowherd and they have 2 daughters. He enjoys working on economic development projects for Chillicothe and surrounding areas, and doing other activities that improve the quality of life for people in the north Missouri area.
